Air – Visualize Air Quality is an iOS app for iPhone and iPad that allows you to visualize air quality in augmented reality, by seeing the different particles virtually in the space around you.
It also provides information about the Air Quality Index (AQI) for different particles, including PM2.5, PM10, NO2, CO, SO2, and O3. Most people should be concerned about the PM2.5 (PM = Particulate matter). Some of these particles can have adverse health impacts with long-term exposure to PM2.5.
When I was in Seoul, there were many days with low air quality with high PM2.5 pollutants in the air, which made me were a mask in order to be protected.
When I looked at the Air Quality Index map I’ve seen that most air pollution comes from east China and probably this was the cause of the of the negative fluctuations in Seoul air quality. Now I am in Japan and there are many days where the AQI is not in the green area (in the yellow area. I usually use aqicn.org to check the air quality of where I am at. According to this website, AQI 0-50 means good air pollution level, AQI 51-100 means that the air quality is acceptable, 101-150 means unhealthy for sensitive groups and from 151-200 and up this can lead to serious health issues.
So I am checking the air quality on a daily basis, although this is the first time I use an AR app for this.
